A New (Blog) Look for a New Year! (Under Construction)
If you have visited my little corner of blog land before, things might look a lot different! I'm in the middle of redesigning my blog with Jerri at Alabama Elite Media so things will be getting moved around a bit and colors are being decided upon until the design is complete. Thank you for your visit and I hope you like the new makeover so far! I know after 4 plus years with relatively the same "look", I'm enjoying the changes and I continue to enjoy working with Jerri during the process. :)
Be sure to check back very soon for my post that will "help you travel through the 12 days of Christmas"! Stay tuned!

Thank You "My Heart's Desire Creations" for my New Blog Makeover!
When I started blogging in June 2010, I taught myself through many hours of trial and error how to design my blog and write posts. There was always something new to learn about the blogging world and I loved starting from scratch to get my blog up and running...but it did take alot of time!

If you are a regular visitor to my blog, you might notice things look a bit different with my blog design now vs. my original look that I created. This was my old blog header created by Lynda at My Heart's Desire Creations. I loved this new look when Lynda surprised me with it several months ago!
After seeing all the beautiful blog makeovers that Lynda has worked on so far, I thought I would treat myself and my blog to a new look! I knew I didn't have the time to spend several more hours redesigning my blog and I knew my friend Lynda is so talented with blog designs so I asked her to update my blog's look and what a great job she did, don't you think?
Lynda changed my blog header that includes the cool scroll of all the cakes I have made for my "cupcakes". She also changed the background color and "cleaned" up my blog a bit by including scrolls to store favorite sites!
My original blog button that I designed looked like this:
Here is my new blog button designed by Lynda:
Lynda made many other changes too to get the look I wanted and I am very happy with how it all turned out! What do you think?
If you would like to see more great examples of Lynda's work on other blogs, be sure to check out her My Heart's Desire Creations page HERE.

If you are interested in starting a new blog with Blogger or would like to change the look of an existing blog, I highly recommend Lynda to do the job! She listened to what I wanted and was easy to work with when I wanted to change things around to get the perfect look.
Thank You Lynda at My Heart's Desire Creations for my great new blog look just in time for the new year!

Why did I start this blog?
I never thought I could start a blog or even have time for it, but I am taking on this challenge after I had a prompting from someone to journal one of my passions...creating and decorating birthday cakes for my 4 children (aka my 4 cupcakes). I have always said that I need to start a blog on how I don't have time to start or keep a blog. Well, here is my attempt to embrace and enjoy the blogging world hoping that it will make a positive impact on myself and on the visitors to "A Slice of Smith Life."
I have visited many blogs in the past and I hope to finally become an official "follower" of some of the blogs that I enjoy reading. I often wonder how bloggers come up with the name of their blog. What is their story of why they chose the name they did?
Here's how I came up with my title, "A Slice of Smith Life": The title relates to the many decorated cakes I have created and sliced over the past 10 + years and this blog will also give my readers a glimpse into the other passions in my life, including Sacred Heart Academy Homeschooling, Cakes, and Natural Family Planning. I hope that by sharing some areas in my life that are fun and important to me, it will help all those who visit "A Slice of Smith Life" to be inspired and touched by what they read.

Hello! Thank you for your Visit!
I'm Tracy. I love my faith, family and on most days, homeschooling my 5 blessings. When I'm not busy baking cakes for my family or making memories in real life or dreaming I had a housekeeper or professional chef, I enjoy documenting a slice of Smith life in blog land.
