Art Showcase Link Up - From Trash to Treasure
I'm linking the following art post to Kimberly's Art Showcase over at Happy Hearts Academy. You can link up each Friday and join the fun!
Last week I was dropping off some recyclables. (we have a drop-off site down the street from where I live) The site has big dumpsters to separate glass, aluminum cans, plastics, and cardboard/newspaper. Well, at the top of the cardboard pile I found a treasure! Let me just say, I DO NOT and DID NOT climb into the dumpster and dig through the cardboard pile :)
This was at the TOP of the pile so no digging was involved: BRIDE'S Printable 40 Count Invitation Kit
When I first took this box of BRIDE'S stationary off the pile, I thought it was a box of unused printed wedding invitations that someone was getting rid of because the wording on the paper was an invite to a wedding. I then noticed the price tags on the outside of the box in the top right corner: $39.99 reduced to $19.99 reduced to sitting on top of the cardboard recycle pile for me to find!
When I opened up the "trash" I found beautiful unused stationary on plain and printed cardstock, sliver ribbons, and lots of big and small envelopes! I thought I hit the lottery! :)
Our homeschool group meets once a month for a craft day and this week it was at my house. This stationary was perfect for the kids to decorate and write cards for a family member or for the residents of the nursing home we visit each month.
Here are some of the cards the kids created with my "trash":
I would have never thought that when I started my blog almost a year ago I would be proudly writing a post about my trash to treasure find! :) I love a good deal, no matter where I find it :)

What a great find! That would have made my week.
I loved poking around your blog this morning!
~Mary
I love the way that you are creative!
What an awesome find! Did you tell them where you found it? I am a secrect garbage picker. Nothing yucky but I love finding things put out on the curb. My kids are often the benefactors of my finds but hate it when I tell I found it in the trash.
Trash to treasure find:) I once got a perfectly good mirror of a trash pile and had it hanging in my bathroom:) So glad ;you were able to do something special with your find:) Voted for you today on all 3 sites.
Thanks for hosting the blog hop.
I'm a new follower. :)

I am a proud trash to treasure hunter. I don't mind digging in trash that isn't yucky. When I was 19 I furnished my first apartment with mostly dumpster finds. I love it! What a wonderful way to use your treasure.
Oh my gosh Tracy, that is amazing. Isn't it funny what some people throw away! I love the idea of a "real" trash to treasure. It looks like the kids had a great time using the cards. I know my kids love making cards and such, especially with cool supplies like you have found. Great find and thank you for sharing. Thank you for linking up this week. Great find, and great use of your find! Have a great day and a blessed Mother's Day!
Hi Tracy hope you are having a great Saturday. Voting for you on all 3 sites today:)

HI Jess,
Yes, I proudly told the moms in our group where I found it :) It was such a "steal" I had to tell them :) It's fun to turn someone's trash into your treasures! Happy Mother's Day!
Hi Anna-Marie!
A mirror is a great find too! Thanks for the votes and Happy Mother's Day! :)
