Snow Day in the South!
Where I live snow is a BIG deal since we don't get it all too often! Traditional school officials closed school's for today by calling parents yesterday before the inclement weather even began. When it comes to snow in our coastal area, I have the attitude, "I won't believe it until I see it" because meteorologists had let me down one too many times as a young child when they said it would snow and it didn't :( But, today we got 4-5 inches in my area! WooHoo!
So when I got in the shower this morning at 7:15 AM it wasn't snowing, then when I got out 10 minutes later my children were hollering, "It's snowing!" and "That means no (home)school!" Yes, I do give my children days off from homeschooling when it snows because I want them to enjoy it before it's all gone!
Snow days are alot of work though! My husband went into work before it started snowing so I was home with my children and neighborhood children. My husband did get to come home early because of the icy road conditions. So I had children in and out all day, wanting hot chocolate and also wanting to get warm. I was throwing wet clothes in the dryer while they sipped on hot chocolate. In and out, wet and dry, cold and warm, excited and tired....it was a whirlwind of a day, but a fun, blessed and beautiful day at the same time!

What a fun Mama you are to join in the snow play! Precious photos of your cupcakes and their friends...great memories being made there!
It looks like you all had so much fun. Thank you for posting you "snowy" pictures. Of course it makes me more homesick. Glad to see you were able to get out and join in the fun too. I voted for you, and thank you for linking to A Day In Our Life Blog Hop. I liked Blog Mommas on FB, and will post a feature on Thursday. Angela is such a great supporter of bloggers.
Aren't snow day great fun:) we always take the day off too. Good use of the boogie boards I wouldn't have thought to use them as sleds:) Everyone is looking like they are having so much fun!! I go thru the indoor and outdoor game with my kids too. I swear sometimes it takes longer to bundle the kids up then they spend outdoors playing:) My son is the worst he hates being too cold:) voted for you
Love the snow pictures! It seems like it takes the kids 30 minutes to get ready to get out the door! They sure do love the snow though don't they?!
I agree it always takes longer to get them in their snow suits and boots. And then multiply that by 4...WOW!! I loved that they used boogie boards for sleds....that is so funny:) But then again I couldn't find the kids sleds when we got our first snow this year, I used an under the drawer tub on wheels to pull them down the street on the ice. It was funny and fun!! They loved it!
Looks like everyone was having a great time in the snow :) We got A LOT too ! We live in Nebraska so it's a givin every winter we get plowed with a BUNCH of snow!!
Happy Tuesday !
They have almost outgrown all of their old snowgear from when we lived up north. But they don't mind!
So glad you all got to enjoy it, too! I'm sure you know we got a good bit in the Charlotte area... I wondered about you all. Loved the pictures! ~~Annita
We also had a "snow day" in our homeschool. I spent the day, drying clothes, warming hands and yes, fixing lots and lots of hot chocolate.
Thanks Kim! It has been fun playing in the snow, but I'm so glad we don't get it too often! :)
Hi Tiffany!
It was fun to join in on the fun, although I was getting too cold and wet so I had to call it quits much earlier than my children :) Thanks for your visit and comment :)
Thanks Lynda for your visit and comments always! We've had fun in the white stuff, but I'm glad it doesn't stick around too long! I'm glad you Liked Angela's Facebook Page. She does do alot to support lots of bloggers :)
Hi Anna-Marie!
We had fun and everyone has slept well because they have been so tired from playing! It does take a long time to bundle everyone up and I don't know how those who live in this stuff can do this ALL the time! :) Thanks for the vote :)
Hi Jen! It does take a long time to bundle up and get out the door. That's why I don't know if I could do this every day in the winter! Our kids love the snow and it's always a rare treat! Thanks for your visit and comment :)
Hi Renita!
Who needs sleds when we have boogie boards?! You can tell we live in a beach town :) Drawer tub works just as well I'm sure! Thanks for you visit and comment :)
Hi Tammy!
How do you expert snow families do it? I guess you are used to the dressing and undressing that goes on when playing in snow? Or are you so tired of snow it's no fun to play in it? I can't imagine doing this everyday :) Thanks for your visit and comment :)
Hi Patty!
We are definitely not prepared with snow gear! My son was wearing boots too small for him and all my children were soaking wet with no waterproof pants! Oh well, we made do for the little snow we get each year! Thanks for your visit and comment!
Hi Annita!
I hope you were able to enjoy the snow as well! So fun, but I'm glad we don't get alot of it :)
It's great to hear from you again! I hope all is well! Thanks always for your comment :)
Hi Kimberly!
Yes, making lots and lots of hot chocolate is the easy part of snow days :) I'm glad you were able to have a fun snow day too! Thanks for your visit and comment :)
Looks like so much fun! We have snow days here (upstate NY) more frequently than you do, but we still enjoy them. In fact, I'm reading on the even of a snow day!
