A Slice of Smith Life: Versatile Blogger Award

Not too long ago, Anna-Marie at Life's Adventures and Christine at Our Homeschool Reviews both awarded my blog the Versatile Blogger Award! Congrats ladies on getting this award from another blogger and thanks for passing it on to me. The "rules" of this award are to:

So here are the 10 Questions with my answers in green:

1. Why did you create this blog?

I had admired others blogs for so long and had no idea how to blog and I didn't know how people found the time to blog! Well, it was last summer when someone encouraged me to blog about all the birthday cakes I have decorated for my children. So I officially entered the blogging world on June 20, 2010 with this post HERE and what a whole new world it's been! Besides featuring my cakes I've decorated, I also enjoy blogging about homeschooling and meeting other homeschool moms from around the world! I love that I can share my Catholic faith with bloggers also and blog about topics that matter the most to me and my family.

2. What kinds of blogs do you follow?

I follow mostly homeschooling blogs and blogs that inspire and encourage me. I also enjoy following review blogs about books or educational products since I enjoy reading others opinions and deciding if the product would be a fit for our family.

3. Favorite make-up brand?

I have tried every make-up brand it seems like Mary Kay, BeautiControl, and store brands. I don't have a preference (sorry MK and BC reps) really, although I enjoy using the facial cleansers from Mary Kay.

4. Favorite clothing brand?

My favorite clothing brand is anything that fits me from friends' and sister's closets and hand me downs or a thrift store. My sister and mom will be the first to tell you that I don't "know" fashion. I don't have time to browse through stores for clothes. I really don't like shopping either as I always get overwhelmed not knowing what looks good together.

5. Indispensable makeup product?

I like lip gloss and eye-liner.

6. Favorite color?
I don't have a favorite color, but I do like this shade of green that I am typing with since this color is similar to my bridesmaids dresses at my wedding.

7. Favorite perfume?

What's perfume?? :)

8. Favorite film?
I love The Sound of Music and I never get tired of watching it over and over again!

9. What country would you like to visit and why?
I would love to visit Rome and go back to where my husband and I honeymooned, St. John, Virgin Islands

10. Would you rather forget to put mascara on one eye or forget blush on one side of your face? mascara on one eye since I don't wear it that much anyway.

Thank You for My Versatile Blogger Award

It's been raining for 4 days straight here on the East coast of NC and today our local schools are closed due to more rain and a tropical storm. One advantage to homeschooling...I'm able to teach rain or shine. (Although, I do allow my children to have snow days and cancel school since we rarely see the white stuff around here :)

So despite the lack of sunshine these past several days, Rebecca at Mom's Mustard Seeds passed on some blog sunshine by awarding my blog the Versatile Blog Award. It was such a wonderful, unexpected surprise to receive this award from a beautiful blog! Thank you Rebecca for passing this on to me!

Now 7 things about me:

My favorite scripture verse is John 20:29. Look it up. You'll be blessed.
One memory I have from my elementary Catholic school days is when my teacher (Sister ?) stopped class every time we heard a siren outside. We would then say a prayer for the doctors, nurses, victim(s). When our family hears a siren, we say a prayer.
I was playing volleyball at our local beach in 1992 when I met my best friend & future husband. We've been married since July 12, 1997.
I couldn't homeschool without my husband's constant love, support and encouragement and without the support of the families in my homeschool group. And now recently I am encouraged by all the comments and emails on my blog :)
Three out of four of my children were born on the 19th of the month. My first two are exactly 17 months apart. They were both born on a Friday, the 19th.
My husband and I have been certified Natural Family Planning (NFP) teachers since 2003.
