A Slice of Smith Life: Camp

At the beginning of November, I went camping with my son and his friend's Boy Scout Pack. His friend's mom is a dear friend of mine. We had a great time hanging out with mostly boys and their dads, but there were several other moms there pitching a tent, hiking, and roasting marshmallows alongside of us. While we were walking around the 2.2 mile trail around a beautiful lake I snapped the following photos. The leaves were beautiful and so full of vibrant colors during this Fall season.

The Sound of Friends

Today my 6 year old "cupcake" and her 6 year old friend were watching our VHS copy of one of my favorite movies, "The Sound of Music". If you are familiar with this wonderful movie and story, there is a scene in the movie where the family is having a party and one of the male Von Trapp children goes up to his sister and starts dancing with her. As this scene was shown, I overheard my cupcake say "I wish I had that kind of brother that would like to dance with me." Then my cupcake's friend added, "My brother would rather break my arm than dance." Ouch! I thought this conversation was cute, funny, and blog "worthy". I got a chuckle out of their comments, maybe you will too. I have watched "The Sound of Music" over and over again and have sang the songs over and over again. I'm glad my children love watching this movie too.

Oh, this post reminded me of last year's Girl Scout Camporee weekend that I went on with my oldest Cupcake in May 2009. The theme of the camping weekend was "Starstruck in Hollywood" and each troop had to pick a song from a movie and sing it for all the other troops present. Our troop chose...you guessed it..."The Sound of Music". Our girls had a great time singing "So Long, Farewell" and everyone was able to decorate their cabins with their movie theme.
